Layers of tagging on the patina covered surfaces that take generations to form or on fragile ancient structures disgusts me. The line between "art" and vandalism is a fine one when it comes to graffiti, with 95 percent of it falling into the mindless vandalism category.

Since my first trip to Rome in the early 90s I've watched the city become almost completely covered as high up as you can reach on every street with tagging. Rome isn't a railway yard or an abandoned building it is home to countless architectural treasures and should be treated with respect.Erik Schmitthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13991546552616301095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7147393486014631294.post-74415216060498505742011-07-20T01:35:18.944-07:002011-07-20T01:35:18.944-07:00Your blog is fantastic and this post in particular...Your blog is fantastic and this post in particular caught my eye as I recently did an urban intervention at the MAXXI gallery in Flaminio which uses a form of graffiti as the central communicator, heres the link to the short film i made about the project, (its only 5 mins long): http://vimeo.com/26386226KATHRYN TIMMINShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13991611663754277724noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7147393486014631294.post-89288125489773144032011-06-29T00:24:04.371-07:002011-06-29T00:24:04.371-07:00I love graffiti art in Rome.
